TAFE Outreach programs are closely aligned to the Federal Social Inclusion Agenda ensuring NSW education is accessible to people who face barriers to learning including geographical and social isolation, language and cultural factors, financial hardship, lack of educational confidence, being unaware of opportunities to learn, a disability or family commitments.

Social Inclusion Outcomes

The learners develop greater self esteem and awareness of systems and resources available to them in Australia and in their local community. As participants extend their networks the social isolation experienced within the group diminishes. Language, literacy, numeracy awareness of study skills and identifying existing skills are achieved through the course. The learners also develop communication skills, advocacy skills and awareness of women's issues and rights. They develop friendships within the community and learn about jobs being found through networking. This has been demonstrated with learners gaining employment through class members. The current groups’ collaborative approach to problem solving has been applied when the program was under threat because a suitable venue was not available for term two. They came up with a range of viable options and contacts.
